Abstract:
Dr Aera JUNG is working on PolarLight, a gas pixel detector astronomical x-ray polarimeter cubesat launched in October 2018. She will talk about primarily on hardware design for space experiments in general and her extensive experience with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), their associated VHDL coding, circuit board design, integration testing, etc. The previous projects, such as the KAMTEL project and its derivatives, then Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory pathfinder (UFFO-p) project, the JEM-EUSO project etc will also be covered.
Resume:
Dr. Aera JUNG graduated from Ewha Womans University in Korea with a bachelor’s degree in physics. She completed the bachelor’s degree and went on to start a combined masters-doctoral program at Ewha Womans University. In spring 2014, she moved to Paris to work on the JEM-EUSO project and completed her PhD in Paris at Universite Paris Diderot under the supervision of Prof. Etienne Parizot at the APC laboratory, and Prof. Pierre Barrillon at the LAL laboratory (CNRS/IN2P3). She is currently a postdoc at Department of engineering physics, Tsinghua University.
